Three Upcoming Tamil Films Representing in New York Indian Film Festival

The happy news is that three kollywood films are selected for screening at the 17th edition of New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF). The festival is said to take place on from April 30 to May 7.

It is also informed that the Viewfinder (VFC) which is the independent film consulting company that would offer the services to the three films at this festival.

Dilani Rabindran, the managing director of VFC has given a statement “I’m happy that our company has helped to fill so much of the South Indian film bracket with such distinct films. They’re all uniquely entertaining in very different ways. We are grateful to have worked on them and I am really looking forward to being there in New York to share these quality Tamil movies with New York audiences”.

Apart from this statement Viewfinder FC took to their official page and tweeted “So here it is! #VFC is extremely happy to represent 3 FILMS at the #NYIFF #OruKidayinKarunaiManu #Sigai #MerkuThodarchiMalai @ErosNowSouth”

Sources have informed that the festival would start with the “Lipstick under My Burkha” directed by Alankrita Shrivasatava.

The three unreleased films that are going to be screened in this International festival are “Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu”, “Merku Thodarchi Malai” and “Sigai”. Let us see a quick glance of these three films.

Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu

This upcoming Tamil is written and directed by Suresh Sangaiah. Vidharth and Raveena Ravi are presented in the lead roles where a goat is said to play a vital role in this movie. The film is produced under the banners of Eros International.


The film features Kathir in lead role where no female lead is presented in the film. Kathir debut with the critically acclaimed ‘Madhayanaikoottam’ and with latest movie ‘Kirumi’.

However the film has nine characters and equal importance is given to all. The film talk about a life of man changes in a day.

In a press meet when Kathir talked about this film he shared that “This is a completely different attempt. We were supposed to work on another project when Jagadeesan mentioned this script. The subject breaks all preconceived notions about a thriller. The movie is set in Anna Nagar and depicts events that happen in one day”.

The director of the film is Jagadeesan Subu the associate of Manigandan of Kaaka Muttai fame.

Merku Thodarchi Malai

Merku Thodarchi Malai, the upcoming Tamil flick is produced by actor Vijay Sethupathi, and the direction part by debutant Lenin Bharathi.

The music is scored by Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja and the film holds newcomers in the lead roles. The film was recently awarded the Best Cinematography award at the recent Bioscope Global Film Festival in Punjab.
