A journey from ‘Idhu yeppudi irruku’ to ‘ennai yaaralayum azhikka mudiyadhu’

A man with a lot of different phases, Shivaji Rao Gaekwad popularly know with his stage name of Rajinikanth. His journey in cinema starts from the year 1975 where he was first seen on the big screen for a short span. His first movie was Apoorva Raagangal, in which he plays an abusive husband. K.Balachander was the one to introduce Rajinikanth to cinema. Though he was active in theatres even before he entered cinema the breakthrough came through K.Balachander.

In the beginning of his career he has been playing only negative characters not only in Tamil but in Kannada and Telugu. Some movies where he has played the antagonist are Aval oru thodar kathai, Avargal, 16 vayathinile etc. The first movie that featured him in a positive and prominent role was Bhuvana Oru Kelvikuri. Muthuraman was the first one to experiment him with positive role. His journey was pretty fast from the beginning of his career, he had done almost 50 movies in all four languages only in a time span of 4 years. Which is merely impossible in today’s industry.

‘Billa’ was the movie that established him as ‘superstar’ in Tamil industry, though he got the name superstar in the movie Bairavi. Later on he has done a lot of movies and had his ups and downs in the industry but he remains to stay the superstar. Rajinikanth is the only actor who is enjoyed by the audience doing both positive and negative roles equally. His comedy subjects actually did extremely well at the box office. Form then to now his journey has been tremendous. He is only actor worldwide to be having such a huge fan base. Be it Parratai of 16 vayathinile or Chitti of 2 point 0 he has been giving his hundred percent. His style, way of delivering his signature dialogues, his energy is something that nobody else could even try to replace.

Hearty wishes from Kollywood.net, hope he continues with the same kind of success in all tasks he takes up.
