Jyothika, last seen in Bala’s Naachiyaar, is currently shooting for her next movie Chekka Chivantha Vaanam directed by Mani Ratnam. Now it is confirmed that she has been roped in for the Tamil remake of superhit Bollywood film Tumhari Sulu. This remake will be directed by Radha Mohan, who has already worked with Jyothika in Mozhi.
This news was confirmed by actor Suriya in a tweet, “Happy to announce that Director #RadhaMohan and Jo are working together again after #Mozhi Hoping to see the magic repeat. All the best to the entire Team and Producer @dhananjayang sir @BOFTAindia congratulations!” Jyothika will be seen portraying the role of Vidya Balan. Tumhari Sulu’s story dealt with a housewife who turns into a RJ for a talk show in midnight. Jyothika has said that she is a huge fan of Vidya Balan and she has not missed watching even a single movie of hers. She also likes her voice and Hindi pronunciation. She also added that her favourite Vidya Balan movie is Tumhari Sulu and she is proud to act in the role portrayed by Vidya Balan.
Radha Mohan has also stated that he is excited to be directing Jyothika in this movie. He was apparently impressed by the realistic presentation in the original movie. So, he believes that he’d be able to recreate the magic with Jyothika in the lead role. Vidya Balan has also conveyed her regards towards the remake and she also stated that she is happy to hear the news about the Tamil remake, since she is a Tamilian. Speculations are rife that the movie will be titled as ‘Ungal Jo‘. However, it is not confirmed yet. Additional to this announcement, Suriya has also announced that the title of Suriya 36, directed by Selvaraghavan, will be released on March 5th.
