Emerging director Karthick Naren, who is famous for his superhit crime movie Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, is currently busy with the post-production work for his next movie titled Naragasooran. This movie stars Arvind Swamy, Shriya Saran, Indrajith Sukumaran and Sundeep Kishan in the lead roles. The teaser which was released recently was widely appreciated and the expectations for the movie have increased since then. This movie is co-produced by acclaimed director Gautham Vasudev Menon under his Photon Kathaas Productions.
However, things are not going well for this film. A few days ago, Karthick Naren took to Twitter to reveal his displeasure over placing trust on the wrong person. His tweet read, “Sometimes a misplaced trust may kill you. People should think twice before taking it for a ride. The last thing you want to see is your passion getting butchered from all the directions for a mistake you did not commit. Threshold!” Though he did not directly mean Gautham Vasudev Menon, it was clear that the frustrated tweet was meant for him.
But, Gautham Vasudev Menon brought out the fight in open by posting a discreet tweet that took a dig at Karthick Naren and his team. This tweet read, “While some young filmmakers whine about their passion getting butchered instead of growing a pair, here’s a young team that makes an interesting short about girls, women, cricket, CSK and liberation. What a connect. So very nicely done!” The tweet was accompanied with a tribute video for CSK made by a group of youngsters.
This tweet apparently irked Karthick Naren who took things into his own hand and replied to GVM’s tweet directly, “While everybody advised against it I had the pair to trust you & collaborate sir. In return we were treated like trash & made to invest on our own. I think its better to whine & confront instead of running away. Please don’t do this to any other young filmmaker sir. It hurts!”
Meanwhile, a Tamil magazine has quoted the grievances of both the directors in a detailed manner. In that, Karthick Naren claims that GVM did not invest any money for the project and used it up for his own directorial ventures, while GVM claims that he invested 9 crore for the project and that Karthick Naren has not been communicating with him properly.
More news regarding this ongoing battle will be updated soon.
