Tamil cinema is the Tamil film industry from Tamilnadu. Its also called as Kollywood and its home center is Kodambakkam, Chennai.
Tamil cinema market is primarily in the regions where Tamil people are concentrated like Tamilnadu in India, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka. Besides that Tamil cinema has good reception in the neighboring states of Tamilnadu like Andhra pradesh (Andhra and Telangana) , Kerala, Karnataka and in the northern India Hindi belt.
In Europe and U.S. Tamil cinema does well and has wide release for its popular stars like Rajinikanth, Kaham Haasan, Vijay , Ajith, Suriya, Simbhu STR, Dhanush and popular directors like Mani ratnam, Shankar, Vetri maran, AR Murugadoss, Lokesh Kanagaraj, H Vinoth, Siva, Atlee.

"Super Star" Rajinikanth - His last release Annaththe in 2021 Diwali saw a good response compared to his previous movies. Now he is working with Nelson who is completing his movie with Vijay. Known as Thalaivar 169 could be Diwali 2022 release.
Kamal Haasan - Completed the shooting portions for his next release Vikram which would release in May 2022. He is expected to announce the plan for this Indian 2 movie with director Shankar, that was stalled due to various conflicts
"Thalapathy" Vijay -His Beast movie directed by Nelson Dilipkumar of Doctor movie fame is releasing in April 2022. Release date is awaited from Sun pictures.
Ajith Kumar - his recent release Valimai (Feb 24th) has achieved blockbuster results and running succesfully for the second week. This movie is Ajith's second blockbuster in three years after Viswasam in 2019.
Suriya Sivakumar - Etharkum Thuninthavan is releasing on March 10. His much awaited movie after pandemic that is seeing the theatrical release. His next project is expected to be with director Bala and then resume Vaadivasal movie with director Vetrimaran.
"Chiyaan" Vikram - the actor has completed the shooting of his long awaited magnum opus Cobra movie where he is rumored to be donning 10 different looks and has multiple other support actors. Cobra would be releasing during the month of May 2022
Simbhu a.k.a STR - Currently busy in wrapping up the portions of Vendhu thaninthadhu kaadu directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and his next movie Corona Kumar with Adithi Shankar , daughter of director Shankar.
Dhanush - His current release Maaran directed by Karthik Naren and produced by Sathyajyothi films is releasing March 11 in Disney/Hotstar direct OTT release.
Sivakarthikeyan - Don movie is releasing on May 12th. Originally announced on March 25th, it is rescheduled to avoid clash with pan Indian biggie RRR movie has the movie is also released in Tamilnadu by the producers of Don movie, Lyca productions.

Director Mani Ratnam - Completed the shooting portions of his magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan a.k.a PS-1 and working on the post production works. The movie is announced to release on September 30th worldwide.
Director Shankar - He is busy with his Telugu movie starring Ram Charan tentatively named as RC15. Awaiting official announcement on the resuming of Indian 2 movie with Kamal Haasan
