The Samuthirakani Thondan Movie was supposed to release on first week of this month May 5, 2017. Now the Thondan release date has been changed and the new date has been officially announced yesterday by the filmmakers in their official twitter page. The film is all set to hit the screens worldwide on May 26. Earlier Samuthirakani himself has tweeted in his official twitter page that “THONDAN RELEASE DATE CHANGED”.
It is said that due to the release of blockbuster movie Baahubali 2, Samuthirakani has decided to change the release date of the film. Thondan is the second film to back out from its May 5 release because Yeidhavan for the other movie that also backs out to release from the said date. However Baahubali 2 has not achieved any record on the opening day of the film in Tamil Nadu, but then again they achieved to make up for it in the weekend.
The film stars Vikranth and Sunaina in lead roles, with Samuthirakani essaying a pivotal role as an ambulance driver named Maha Vishnu. The other cast and crew performing this film are Soori, Kanja Karuppu, Thambi Ramaiah, Namo Narayanan and ‘Pichaikaaran’ Murthy. The film is produced by R. Manikandan under the banner Vasundhara Devi Cine Films. The film is directed by Samutharakani himself. The music of the film is composed by Justin Prabhakaran.
Thondan is based on a real-life incident which is a social issue that happens in the day to day life nowadays. Thondan will have a message that will appeal to the younger audience as well. In the facebook live chat, Samuthirakani said “It definitely is for the younger audience as they would take some points out of it after watching it. Let me not say it is for men, it also caters to women. The movie is sure to change perspectives of a lot of people”
