Valimai is declared blockbuster by the audience and the trade. The movie won the most needed family audience and ringed the bells in the box office at the right and most needed time of Tamil cinema. Valimai opened the 2022 in a grand manner for Tamil movies world wide.

Valimai is the first 200cr grossing movie for Ajith Kumar. It is estimated to end up worldwide gross of 210crs. His Viswasam fell inches short of the number, where it is estimated to collect around 190cr and some even say it did touch the 200cr magical number.

Now in this post we are comparing Valimai and Viswasam 2 blockbusters from Ajith within a span of 3 years.

Viswasam released along with Petta in the famous Jan 10th Pongal clash and won the head to head battle with the superstar movie.
His other Jan 10th clash was Veeram vs Jilla where again Ajith's Veeram emerged as winner.
Viswasam did a mamoth run in the Tamil nadu box office and collected 140cr gross only in the state of Tamilnadu. This number was considered staggering and a benchmark for the industry when movies like 2.0 did around 120cr only.
To beat Viswasam gross collections in Tamilnadu is a dream for all other actors and production houses. 

Now coming to Valimai the movie is a long delayed movie due to pandemic and now finally saw the light of the day on Feb 24th.
The movie did excellent and record breaking openeing 4 day weekend numbers breaking all other movie records. The third and fourth day box office confirmed the movie as a hit and the subsequent weekday and second weekend confirmed it a blockbuster. Now Valimai is runing in more than 200+ screens for its third week giving tough competetion to the new releases like Etharkkum thuninthavan and Radhye Shyam.

Now as of March 9 Valimai did collect around 110cr in Tamilnadu alone and it is expected to see two more weekends and it will end up to 120cr as per our reporting. 

It will be the second highest collecting movie in Ajith's career and the best when it comes to non-Viswasam gross numbers.

Valimai turned out to be a Blockbuster and profitable venture for all the parties involved from producers, distributors to theater owners.

As per our reporting it is estimated to end up worldwide gross of 210crs.

Also it gave the much needed success for the Tamil cinema industry on the whole by bringing back the family audience to the theaters.

Overall in other areas than in Tamilnadu where Ajith's movie do well, Karnataka, overseas (Singapore, Malaysia and Srilanka) Valimai turned out to be the best performing Ajith movie beating Viswasam numbers.
