Veteran Actor VijayKumar Gets Honorary Doctorate

The legendary actor Vijayakumar, as well as the father of the happening actor Arun Vijay, is very much recognised for pulling off village based roles with ease. The actor is said to be honoured with the Doctorate by the MGR Deemed University.

It seems that actor Vijayakumar would be presented with the Doctorate on the month of April 18th. Vijayakumar is not only a Tamil film actor but also a politician. Beside by largest work at Tamil cinema ever since 1973, he has also acted in a few Hindi, Malayalam and Telugu movies. Apart from that, he is also seen in television serials.

Vijayakumar’s family includes his wives Muthukannu and Manjula. He has six children were five daughters and one son. The daughters Kavitha, Anitha, Vanitha, Preetha, Sridevi and son Arun Vijay are all into the film industry. Even his Manjula was also a great actress in the olden times and have also done character role till her death.

Manjula died at her house in Chennai on 23 July 2013 when she was 59. Till date, Arun and his father have seemed together on screen almost thrice, that are films like Pandavar Bhoomi, Malai Malai and Maanja Velu.

By this honour, the Nadigar Sangam of the Tamil industry has extended their hearty wishes to the actor. Furthermore, they added that the Nadigar Sangam will endlessly be thankful to Vijayakumar for his noteworthy works and 50 years of film journey.

Applauding on this, Nadigar Sangam has delivered a note that states

“Vijaykumar who began with his debut film Ponnukku Thanga Manasu has been servicing the cinema for the past fifty years. Some of his notable films include Kizhakku Cheemaiyilae, Agni Natchathiram, Naattaamai and the likes. He has acted in more than 400 films in various languages.

To honour his service to the cinema, MGR University is bestowing him with an honorary doctorate on 18th April. We at Nadigar Sangam are immensely proud of this and offer our heartfelt congratulations to Vijaykumar”
